Dear Colleagues,
Dear Friends,
It was fantastic to see so many of you at the 45th EOC Seminar and Olympic Solidarity Forum in Malta. This event is a vital platform for our National Olympic Committees (NOCs) to exchange views on the key issues shaping the Olympic Movement. I hope you found the interactive format of this year’s event useful for facilitating more open dialogue and knowledge sharing.
We heard great insights during our time in Malta, and I would like to extend my sincere thanks to everyone who contributed to the success of the event, in particular our expert facilitators, coordinators and speakers. We are also delighted to announce that the 46th EOC Seminar and Olympic Solidarity Forum will take place in Split, Croatia, next October.
I would also like to congratulate Malena Zamfirova, Snowboarder from Bulgaria, on winning the 10th Winter edition of the Piotr Nurowski Prize, as voted for by the NOCs during our time in Malta. Once again, we had a very impressive calibre of young athletes in the running for this prestigious award, and we look forward to seeing this year’s nominees follow the footsteps the achievements of many previous finalists.
It has been an extremely productive month for the EOC. We are pleased to hold a very productive meeting with officials from the Turkish Minister of Youth and Sports and the Turkish NOC in Istanbul. Together, we discussed critical aspects of preparations for the European Games Istanbul 2027, and it was very encouraging to see the strong commitment from all parties towards delivering an outstanding event for Europe’s best athletes.
I also had the pleasure of visiting Milano, where I witnessed firsthand the growing anticipation for the Olympic Winter Games in February next year. We are thrilled that the Games are returning to Europe, and all athletes, officials and spectators can look forward to incredible competition in world-class facilities across Northern ItalyIn the meantime, preparations are progressing very smoothly for the 8th European Athletes Forum and General Assembly in London and the European Evening of Sport in Brussels next month. We are looking forward to both events, which will allow us to ensure the athlete voice is heard on important issues and continue defending and promoting the European sport model with our partners from the European Commission.
Thank you for your continued dedication and support of the EOC’s activities.
Warm regards,
Spyros Capralos
EOC President
