Welcome to the latest edition of #UAEinVenice, where we bring you the most recent updates from the National Pavilion UAE at La Biennale di Venezia, as well as news from our alumni here in the UAE.
Today, the National Pavilion UAE opened with Pressure Cooker, inaugurated by H.E. Sheikh Salem bin Khalid Al Qassimi, UAE Minister of Culture, in the presence of His Excellency Sheikh Khalifa Bin Ahmed Al- Khalifa, President of Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities, and His Excellency Mr. Abdul Rahman Badah Abdul Rahman Al-Mutairi, Minister of Information and Culture and Minister of State for Youth Affairs. This marks the UAE’s 14th participation at the International Art and Architecture Exhibition and its 6th participation at Biennale Architettura. We extend our gratitude to the Salama bint Hamdan Al Nahyan Foundation and the UAE Ministry of Culture for their unwavering support, and to our guests from the UAE and abroad for joining us in Venice for the Preview Days.
The National Pavilion UAE continues to play a leading role in shaping the UAE’s cultural landscape, fostering impact and legacy through initiatives that support architectural discourse in the UAE. This year’s exhibition introduces a new lens, one that has yet to be pursued at this scale and context, proposing a technical and experimental approach to architecture that is future-thinking, multidisciplinary, and thoughtfully connected to the climate and food security realities of our time.
Our vision for the future is to continue telling untold stories from the UAE, to engage in dialogue, and to lead the way in adding depth and diversity to who we are as a nation.
Pressure Cooker is a growing experiment that collects, analyzes, and shares data, offering insights into the environmental performance of adaptive greenhouse assemblies. The exhibition concept re-imagines a future in which food production and architectural form can be integrated throughout our built and lived environments
Yours sincerely,
Laila Binbrek
