Tokyo 2020 Welcomes Visa as Paralympic Gold Partner

he Tokyo Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games (Tokyo 2020) today welcomed Visa as a Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Gold Partner in the category “Payment Systems”. Its addition brings the total number of Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Partners to 71.

By becoming a Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Gold Partner, the highest tier of the domestic sponsorship programme, Visa will provide valuable support to the successful delivery of the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games.

Tokyo 2020 President Yoshiro Mori welcomed the announcement, commenting, “We are delighted to welcome Visa, a Worldwide Paralympic Partner, as a Gold Partner of the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games. About the IPC Sponsorship Programme and the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Sponsorship Programme:Sponsorship of the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games is divided into two categories: the IPC’s Sponsorship Programme and Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Sponsorship Programme. Worldwide Paralympic Partners are granted the right to use the designation of the Paralympic Games and their emblem (but not including those of the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games). The three remaining categories are designated for domestic sponsors. The highest domestic tier comprises Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Gold Partners, the second tier consists of Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Official Partners and the third tier is made up of Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Official Supporters.

Domestic sponsors will also be core components of Tokyo 2020’s Marketing Programme, and until 2020 they will be indispensable partners both for the successful delivery of the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games and as partners of Japan’s Paralympic teams. Accordingly, they will be accorded the rights to use Tokyo 2020’s Paralympic designations and imagery, including emblems, mascots and slogans. In collaboration with all sponsors who take part in the Marketing Programme, the Tokyo 2020 Organising Committee will work to contribute to a brighter tomorrow for both Japan and the world.
